Sustainable development

Building the future without compromising that of future generations.
We make sustainable development the foundation of all our actions. To ensure that sustainability goes hand in hand with responsibility, we take concrete actions that combine innovation, respect for resources, and a positive impact on our regions.
We are fully committed to sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
Our commitment is first and foremost reflected in concrete actions that benefit the local economy. By working with regional businesses and service providers, we create synergies that strengthen the economic fabric of the areas in which we operate. We prioritize local partnerships for our supplies, thereby reducing our carbon footprint while promoting the development of local businesses. This contributes to a dynamic circular economy that benefits all stakeholders in the region.
Our adherence to the Unicem Entreprises Engagées Charter is a strong indicator that guides our actions to reduce environmental impacts at our sites. These commitments are regularly audited, as evidenced by the CAP project to improve ports on our Limay platform (78).
Decarbonizing our transportation and optimizing our logistics flows
Reducing our carbon footprint is a key focus of our environmental approach.
Our strategy for decarbonizing our activities is based in particular on the development of alternative transport solutions to road transport, such as rail and river transport, as well as the creation of multimodal logistics platforms integrating road, rail, and waterways.
The commissioning of a new state-of-the-art rail terminal with a capacity of 4 million tons demonstrates our ongoing commitment to improving our environmental performance.
In addition, we are investing in innovative equipment across all our sites to reduce our CO₂ emissions in the long term: hybrid excavators, a fleet of electric or hybrid vehicles, and conveyor belt systems to replace machinery in quarries.

Taking action to preserve biodiversity and reduce our impact.
The CB Group's Aggregates division has implemented a proactive policy to preserve habitats, fauna, and flora through various measures designed to promote and maintain remarkable biodiversity at its sites before, during, and after operations:
• Protecting pollinators by installing apiaries on our sites, in partnership with local beekeepers.
• Monitoring the reproduction of eagle owls at the Ferques and Limont-Fontaine sites, in partnership with the ornithological associations Ecosphère and Aubépine.
• protection of bank swallows, yellow-bellied toads, and orchid varieties,
• maintaining areas with floral potential through eco-grazing by sheep (local breed),
• Regular training for our teams and raising awareness about environmental protection.
Our environmental approach involves preserving and integrating sites into their local landscape.
In consultation with local organizations, our quarries are being redeveloped into natural or agricultural sites. Our Ferques quarry is part of the Marquise Quarry Basin Landscape Plan. This long-term collaborative development project, unique in France, is being carried out in partnership with the Caps et Marais d'Opale Regional Nature Park and aims to control the changes to the landscape caused by quarrying activities.
We strictly adhere to the ERC (Avoid, Reduce, Compensate) principles to minimize our impact on ecosystems.
Across all our sites, we implement the necessary measures to reduce the impact of noise, vibrations, dust, and transport. We take action to limit our environmental impact by managing our mine water, recovering our quarry waste, recycling our industrial waste, etc.
Ensuring resource conservation through the circular economy.
Faced with environmental challenges, CB Group Aggregates is actively committed to the ecological transition of the construction sector. This approach is based on the rational use of natural resources and the development of solutions for recycling materials from demolition projects.
We ensure the recovery and recycling of construction and public works site waste in strict compliance with current regulations, guaranteeing its traceability and environmental compliance.
The geographical proximity of our platforms to construction sites located in urban areas allows us to optimize logistics flows and reduce CO₂ emissions generated by transport, particularly in large cities and attractive areas.
We produce and market alternative materials to natural aggregates, designed to meet the needs of sustainable construction.
In line with a short supply chain approach, our recycled materials are produced from local resources and intended for local use, particularly in the concrete industry and public works.
These innovative materials are derived from demolition concrete, waste from the manufacture of ready-mix concrete and prefabrication, curb concrete, waste from public works and industry, primary resources (natural aggregates), and secondary resources.
This approach contributes to the preservation of natural deposits, reduces the extraction of natural resources, and limits our environmental impact, while ensuring technical performance that meets the sector's requirements.
